Hi Nancy, Thanks for the info…I do believe that this group of Cowans (Cowin) is probably ours. One thing I’ve noticed in a couple of the censes is that they are next door to Crocketts, so I wonder if they are related also. I think they were next door in the 1810 Wythe census and also next to Isabella and Elizabeth in the 1850 Wythe census. In the 1860 Wythe census, Elizabeth and James are living next door to Fugates, which was the last name of George’s first wife. They must have moved closer to thme. She had apparently died and he has the two children with him. By 1870 they were in Wafsee, Pulaski Co, Virginia, he had remarried Nancy Castle, my gg-grandmother. They were still in Hiwassee, Pulaski Co, Virginia in 1880. By 1900 Geroge and his whole clan had moved to Morristown, Hamblen Co, TN. I don’t know whether Elizabeth's brothers went or not.
