This is a long shot but... I am looking for information on the birth mother of my Grandmother Annie Hazeldine. My grandmother was born 18/11/1914 in Westport, to an unmarried woman, whom I believe to be a Miss Smith. The man she eventually married did not want Annie, so she went to her natural father James Hazeldine and his wife Elida nee Curtis and was adopted by them in 1922. Miss Smith married, moved to Balclutha and died of cancer in the early to mid 1960's, and possible had 4 more children. Before she died she visited my grandmother, then married to Ernie Thomas with 5 children herself, at the family farm in Kotuku on the West Coast. My aunt cannot remember the married name, though it may start with H? Does this story ring any bells with anyone who could help me with my search?
