| AURORA, Wis. - George Douglas "Doug" Mills Sr., 81, of Aurora, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 29, 2008, at his home. He was born on Sept. 7, 1926, in Kingsford, the son of the late Frank and Rose (Vlach) Mills. Doug operated a dairy farm and worked at Tom Bloom Landscaping. He worked for many years at the Florence County Co-op as a service and repairman. Doug also owned and operated Doug's Repair Service until his retirement at the age of 78. Doug enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a charter member of the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department and the Aurora Rescue Squad. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and riding his four-wheeler. He married Beatrice "Boots" Wolsker on Sept. 30, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Doug is survived by his wife, "Boots," six children, Frances (Tony) Mitchem of Spread Eagle, Wis., Kathleen (Leonard) Martin of Aurora, George (Dawn) Mills of Aurora, Ann (Todd) Broullire of Aurora, Joseph (Susan) Mills of Florence, and Christine (Eric) Christesen of Aurora; one brother, Edward (Joanne) Mills of Iron Mountain; two sisters, Shirley Wolsker of Aurora and Bonnie (Darrell) Doggett of Lucedale, Miss.; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Mills; infant twin daughters, Roseann and Maryann Mills; one sister, Beatrice Flesch Malmberg; two infant great-grandsons, Lance Martin and Joe LeQuia, Jr.; and four brothers-in-law Frank, James, and Donald Wolsker, and Robert Feigle. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, with a rosary service to follow. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
