Edward "Leeroy" Maxon

Edward "Leeroy" Maxon, 70, of Mill Creek died Dec. 18, 2005, at Ardmore. The Rev. Claud Williams will officate at funeral services Wednesday (today) at 2 p.m. at the Mill Creek Cemetery.

Maxon was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Kingfisher to Dutch and Fannie (Strange) Conley. He attended school in Sulphur. He married Mina Leah Hughes and then joined the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 22 years, obtaining the rank of staff sergeant. During his time in the Air Force, he served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from military service 18 years ago and moved to Mill Creek.

He is survived by seven children, David and Barry Maxon, both of Oklahoma City, Ron and Steve Maxon, both of Norman, Vicki Baker of Pottsboro, Texas, Pam Bice of Troy and Debra Hamilton of Karen Crow, La.; a brother, Duke Maxon of California; a sister, Alice Farr of Alabama, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Pallbearers are Johnnie Walker, ChuckBaker, Dennis Hamilton, Stephen Taylor, Trenton Taylor and Scooter Taylor.

Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur is in charge of the arrangements.
