Althea M. Stafinski - Portage, MI, passed away Monday eve-ning, May 13, 2002. Althea was born May 12, 1916 in Helena, Montana, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Keckler) Dillivan, and had been a Michigan resident since 1926. She was a member of the VFW :Post #6252 Auxiliary, the Kalamazoo Schoolcraft Eagles Lodge. Althea loved to dance, but the most important part of her life was her family. On Feburary 6, 1950 she was united in marriage to Joseph Stafinski, who preceded her in death on November 25, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Michael. Surviving are her significant other, Fred Gay of Kalamazoo; her daughters, Julia A. (Jon) Phillips of Portage, Barbara L. Herson and Carol Sweet of Augusta, Kataherine K. (Donald) Barnes of Scotts; grandchildren, Eric, Scott (Jamie) and Shauna Phillips, Jassen (Priscilla) Andy and Tyler Dibble, Jarrett and Sheri Rice, Joanna Barnes; 16 great-grand-children; a brother, Kenneth (Pauline) Dillivan of Burr Oak; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., 343-1508 with her son-in-law, Rev. Donald Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
