my grandmother was the daughter of a william hance. he was at one time married to mary lou johnson--she was half Cherokee indian. my grandmother was born possibly in tennessee, hence her middle name, and her mother died in the area of clarksville, ar. they were headed west. she always told us that she and her sister basically raised themselves due to he drank alot and was very, very mean.
