| OBIT HEADLINE: Rev. Evans rites slated for Monday Funeral services for the Rev. Joseph W. Evans, 72, of 1091 Fourth Ave. will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at Eastwood Pentacostal Church. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Rev. Mr. Evans died at 7 p.m. Friday in a Houston hospital. He was a native of Amity, Ark. and moved to Lake Charles 33 years ago from Many. He was pastor of the First Pentacostal Church here for the past 32 years, having retired in January of this year. Rev. Mr. Evans held many church offices and was on the executive board of United Pentacostal Churches of the state of Louisiana. Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Maxine Harris of Laurel, Miss., Mrs. Carolyn Richard of Lake Charles and Mrs. Marilyn Willis of Clute, Texas; two sons Carol David Evans of Clute, Texas and James Evans of Carlyss; four brothers, Millard Evans of Hot Springs, Ark., Columbus Evans of Little Rock, Ark., Johnny Evans of Glenwood, Ark., and Thomas Evans of Lodi, Calif. Also, four sisters, Mrs. Eva Mae Byrd of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Pearl Patridge of Lake Jackson, Ark., Mrs. Mertie Caldwell of Hot Springs, Ark., and Mrs. Lola Buck of Amity, Ark.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. ---Lake Charles American Press, Oct. 8, 1972. |
