My Grandmother was Marianna Zarzecki. Other Zarzecki's in Westfield, Mass. were Josef, Kazmierz, Franciszek, Antoni, another Antoni. Wladislaw Kosiorek was a brother in law. There was also an Alexandria Zarzeska in Westfield. Several Zarzeck's returned to Europe after WW1. Anthony S Zarzecki , born in Westfield, Jan 2, 1920, returned to the United States to Detroit Michigan. I have his obituary. Further information on him in ships list (return to United States & ww2 hospital ship); WW2 enlistments at ancestry.com or NARA (electronic army serial number merged file). His wife was Frances. Her obituary is on line, (no fee) at Detroit Free Press). Czeslaw (Chester) Zarzecki, born Westfield, Mass., returned to the United States, to Erie, Pa. I have his obituary, his mother's, Bronislawa "Bernice" Tyszkiewicz, and his step-father's, Franciszek "Frank" Tyszliewicz. Ancestry.com has some Erie, Pa City Directories on line. Information I have (except obituaries) is mostly from ancestry.com. Ancestry.com has many of the Westfield, Mass. City Directories on line. Look in 2 places, 1940 census substitue, and U.S. City Directories. Go to Westfield for each individual year and go into "Z" section to find. What ancestry.com does not have, the Westfield Antheneum does. Also, World War 1 draft registration cards are at ancestry.com., indexed as follows:(1)Anton Zarecky at 9 Fowler St., Westfield, Mass;(2) Anthony Zarzeine, at 9 Fowler St., Westfield, Mass. (3) Kazimir Zaichchi, at 89 Meadow St., Westfield, Mass. I have a copy of the WW1 Statement of Service Card for Anthony Zarzeski, Service number 1,669,448, with address listed as 9 Forest St. (address was actually 9 Fowler St), Westfield, Mass.) Inducted 9/22/1917. Place of birth is listed as Tousa Rus Poland. Note: There is no fee to obtain a copy of a WW1 Statement of Service Card in Massachusetts. All you need do is send a letter with as much information (including, alternative spellings of first and last names, dob, residence, branch of service etc.) you have, along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Office of the Adjutant General, Historical Services Division, 44 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609-3157. I have found that WW1 Statement of Service cards, also called service cards or abstracts, are located in the State where the person resided at the time of enlistment/induction, even if they enlisted in another state, e.g. New York, Vermont. Would appreciate any information to confirm relationships of the above name Zarzecki's to each other and my grandmother. It appears that Josef, Kazmierz, Franciszek and one of the Antoni's were brothers, and their brother in law was Wladislaw Kosiorek. My grandmother had at least one sister( I assume this was Anna, Wladislaw Kosiorek's wife). Note on ships list. There is an Anthoi going to Westfield, Mass. whose last name is indexed as Antoni Sarzetzki by EllisIsland.org. Arrived at New York 4-11-1903 (4/1/1903). I have not yet figured out how ancestry.com indexed his last name. The easiest way to find this listing is to is put in the name of Wladislaw Nikutzki, whose name appears on the line just above or below Antoni's. (You should be looking at lines 2 and 3). If anyone knows who this Wladislaw is, please let me know. It's very close to being a German spelling of my grandfather's last name, but I cannot resolve a difference with the birth date that I have.
