Hi Everyone,
I wasn't sure which category to post this in, and this seemed the closest. I know that "coats of arms" and "heraldry" is not something assigned to a surname, but rather something that was established for someone and their line of descent, and the websites selling "your family's coat of arms" products are not giving the whole story on what a coat of arms or heraldry actually is.
Nonetheless, I'm curious if anyone has a resource for where the common "coat of arms" for Baumgarten/Bumgardner (a Google image search will show what is commonly the Bumgardner "coat of arms") originates -- who it actually belonged to? Thanks in advance for any insight. (There is a different one for another Baumgarten here that I'm also interested in the details on: http://ngw.nl/heraldrywiki/index.php?title=Wien-Unter-Baumgarten)
