Hello Larry
Good to hear from you again. I guess you know that your former Journal as well as the CWRS seems to be in peril. I hope the group continues despite of its problems. It seems all organisations are feeling the pinch.
Regarding Fawcett ..... I have now discovered much the same information you have supplied. I first found him missing from the medal roll of the 6th DG .... but as we have discussed previously that roll has its problems - tacked on the end of the 5th - and I still wonder if it is complete. I found his entry as Cornet in the Gazette in 1851, but I failed to find his retirement in that worthy resource. There is a photograph of him in the local Volunteer Rifle Corps without any medals, which I found a bit suspicious. There is plenty written of him here as he founded a prominent 'Colonial' family. I will dig it out and send it to your personal email address including photo.
Congratulations on getting going on yet another book. I may be able to help with other men in the regiments you mentioned if they settled here in Western Australia. I will be in touch.
Best regards,
Diane
