Can anyone please help me find my Great-Grandfathers Military Service records?

He was in the Boer War 1889-1902, my dad thinks he served with The Kings Royal Rifles.

Charles Henry Smith, born in England 1879-1880 and died in Australia (NSW) 1919. His father was Henry Smith and mother Sophie Emma Smith (nee Winkleman). He married Florence Blackford in 1905 and they had 6 children whilst in England and then my GF was born in Australia in 1919. He must have immigrated between 1912-1919, not sure as I can't find this record either. He died when my GF was about 6 months old (in Balmain?). It is thought that he died of Gastroenteritis. His son, my GF is still alive, he is 97, and I know he would love to hear more about his dad. It's such a pity that my family didn't start to search earlier, but better late than never I guess!

Any help or leads would be really appreciated! Thanks - Kellie.
