I'm researching any European roots of my father's Brusse side of the family. Namely, Johannes Brusse (Brus) b: approx 1840's from the Gelderland region. Wife- Gertrude (Grootblooming?) both B: approx 1840's. The 2 siblings who immigrated to the USA in the 1880's were my grandmother Gertrude and her brother Henry Brusse (b: approx 1860's) They settled in Holland and Grand Rapids Michigan. My great uncle Henry became major of Holland, Michigan in the early 1900's. Gertrude Brusse married Gerrit Blok. My father's oral history stated that Johannes Brusse's side of the family was related to Van Heeckeren Van Kell, huis of Ruurlo (Gelderland). The yarn tells about his mother (?) marrying a commoner and being disinherited. I seem to draw a blank in my research on that side. Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this long family mystery.
