Like to make contact with anyone researching this African American family who's slave migration brought them to Grimes County circa 1855? Jackson (Jack Venters) was still in Grimes in 1880 but migrated soon afterwards to Parsons, Labette County, Kansas. Possibly came to Texas with Stoneham family--and may have been slave of or worked for, after slavery ended the McIntrye family--Margaret or one of her sons. Lore claims the Venters came to Texas as part of a large group of slaves--some of whom made the trip with them to Kansas. Among that group may have been, Browns, Fagans, Bowens, Dedmans, Teagues, and Kinneys. Interested in any of the above named as well.
