Subject: King Family from Washington County, Rhode Island
Date: Friday, November 04, 2016
Surnames: King, Richmond
I'm looking for some information on a King family from Rhode Island. The earliest King I find in Rhode Island is Earl King. According to ' Rhode Island, Vital Extracts, 1636-1899', Earl King married Content Richmond in Rhode Island on 24 Jan 1768. They lived in Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island.
Earl can be found along with his father-in-law, Stephen Richmond, voting against the adoption of the United States Constitution here - https://books.google.com/books?id=ZegKpSs4Km4C&pg=PA601&lpg=PA601&dq=earl+king+exeter+rhode+island&source=bl&ots=_t3nGMCSh5&sig=UfxxWUkULTnihxvWQiaXwtrxdyc&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjm9e_6sY_QAhXL4iYKHTM4ByUQ6AEIPDAG#v=onepage&q&f=false.
I'm wondering if any one has any information about Earl King's parents, or tips for where to look. I've found a few uncited claims that he was born in South Kingstown, Washington County, Rhode Island. I have found nothing to prove or disprove these claims.
At some point between 1800 and 1820, Earl and at least one son, Stephen, eventually moved to North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania, where descendants still can be found today.
Anyone know anything about this family, specifically about Earl's parents and place of birth? Thank you!
