XENIA — Delena Lurene Dahmer-Johnson, more affectionately known as Dee Dee, was born January 1st, 1955 to Helena L. (Blake) Dahmer and Wilbur R. Dahmer in Xenia, Ohio. She was the elder of 2 daughters.
Delena was raised in Wilberforce, Ohio.
In her primary years, she played the piano and participated in recitals at Shorter Hall on the Wilberforce University campus. She was an avid skater, ran track at the Xenia YMCA, played basketball for the Dahmer Bombers and played flute for the Xenia High School marching and concert bands.
She attended Lucinda Cook elementary school on the Central State University campus. She finished her primary education at Tecumseh Elementary, secondary at Warner Jr. High and graduated from Xenia High School in 1973.
Additionally, she attended Clark and Central State University.
She made a career in the health profession as an LPN
Delena later married Elroy Randolph "Rapp" Johnson in May of 1982. Delena and her husband moved to Higginsville Missouri. After her husband's passing, Delena moved back to Wilberforce, Ohio in 2006. Upon her return, she stayed actively involved with her nieces and nephew until she became too ill to do so. Delena was christened early in life and later baptized. She was raised in Holy Trinity AME Church. Her other hobbies were fishing, hunting, knitting, but most of all spending time with family. She was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, The National Rifle Association, and a member and contributor to the United Negro College Fund. She was a loving, giving and caring person and literally gave the shirt off her back to help save a man who was burning to death in his home.
Delena was proceeded in death by her mother Helena and her husband Randy "Rapp" Johnson.
She leaves to mourn and remember her loving kind spirit, father Wilbur Rayfield Dahmer (Norvia) Xenia, Oh, sister Atreva Vaughan (Clyde) Wilberforce, Oh, brother Rayfield Dahmer (Monee) Memphis, Tennessee, brother Wilbur Dahmer Jr. Xenia, Oh, step sister Lisa Winburn, Xenia,Oh, special nieces and nephews, Carmen Dyer, her 3 children Dana Jr. Nia, and Jada Dyer, Wilberforce Oh, Camille Sorrells (Jermaine), their daughter Brooklyn, Cincinnati, Oh, Edward "Brandon" Tisdale, Xenia, Oh, Clyde Vaughan III (Whitney), children Karsyn, Weston, Xenia, Oh, and a host of cousins, relatives.
