March 27, 1922 - June 25, 2007

Jimmie C. Blackshear of Waco passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be at 3:30 P.M. Friday, June 29 at Flint Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Thursday, June 28 at Brazos Funeral Home located at 1124 Washington Ave. Waco, Texas.

Jimmie was born March 27, 1922 in Temple, TX to James Hardin and Melissa Hardin. She was the youngest of nine siblings. Growing up on Owl Creek, she was always a country girl at heart. She married George Blackshear on October 5, 1939. They lived the first few years in McGregor and downtown Waco. In 1949, after her husband’s military service, they bought their first and only house in which they raised two children. Jimmie’s love for her family showed in everything she did. She loved to cook and bake cakes and bread. She truly knew how to please her family and care for their home. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, watching John Wayne movies and was an avid reader of Louis L’Amour novels. She especially enjoyed her little Chihuahua, Cocoa. She always had a joyful spirit and a kind word for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Edward Blackshear II; daughters, Carmin and Georgeane and seven siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Cox and husband, Roger of Waco; son, George Edward Blackshear, III, and wife Tena of Waco; grandchildren, Jennifer Lou Kistner and husband, Steve of Tewkesberry, Mass.; George Edward Blackshear, IV and wife, Alicia of Temple; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Kimberly and Dillon; sisters, Hazel Perez and her best friend and beloved dog, Cocoa.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
